Happy Town Sounds CD cover Sekret Sekret was a post-punk psychedelic band that grew out of the late-70s Sydney punk scene with members from Broken Toys, Johnny Dole and the Scabs and Blackrunner. The band became influential in the Australian underground scene and had a number of successes in the indie charts, most notably with their sonic-folk hit 'New King Jack'.

The band played mostly inner-city venues from 1979 to 1984 and became known for their catchy pop-punk tunes as well as their low-volume/low-exertion live performances, which became louder and marginally more animated as time passed. The band broke up twice, first from burn-out, then from differences over direction. Three of its members went on to mainstream chart success with surf-dub-swamp band the Cruel Sea. The band's frontman David Virgin pursued a solo career and continues to record and perform in his native Dublin.

In August 2008 Feel Presents archivist Tim Pittman released Happy Town Sounds (Singles, Live & Rare), a double-CD retrospective of the band which comprises some 32 tracks (23 previously unreleased) and includes a 28-page booklet which details the history of the band.
